6-Day Lake Nakuru, Naivasha & Amboseli Safari

Six days through Kenya's Great Rift Valley lakes and Amboseli National Park, where herds of elephants roam beneath Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

You are met on arrival in Nairobi.

Day 2: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru

After breakfast we drive west to Lake Nakuru National Park, stopping at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Nakuru is recognised as one of the most successful rhino breeding parks in Kenya. The rhinos live alongside buffalo, zebra, Rothschild giraffe and plains game such as eland, impala, waterbuck, Thomson's gazelle and warthog.

Overnight: Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge or similar.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha

This morning we drive to Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure on the lake, take an optional boat ride on this freshwater lake or, if you are feeling energetic, cycle in the scenic Hell's Gate National Park. At over 1,910 metres above sea level, Naivasha is the highest lake in the Rift Valley.

Overnight: Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort or similar, with dinner.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park

After breakfast we head to Amboseli National Park via Nairobi, arriving in good time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

Overnight: Ol Tukai Lodge or similar, with dinner.

Day 5: Amboseli National Park

After an early breakfast we set out on a game drive, with a mid-morning coffee break at one of the lodges and a visit to a Maasai village. The Maasai are among Kenya's proudest peoples and still live the traditional lifestyle of their ancestors. After lunch we head out on an afternoon game drive. Huge herds of elephants come down to drink alongside buffalo, giraffe, cheetah, lion, waterbuck, impala, zebra, wildebeest, baboons and Maasai ostrich. With more than 400 recorded species of water and woodland birds, birdwatching is a pleasure all year round. Kilimanjaro lies just over the border in Tanzania, but the most impressive view of its snow-capped peak is from Amboseli.

Day 6: Amboseli to Nairobi

Take an optional hot-air balloon ride over the plains below Kilimanjaro (at extra cost). After breakfast we drive back to Nairobi; lunch is on your own account. We drop you at the airport for your flight home, timed to your flight schedule.
