Responsible Tourism

Discover a new way to travel that honors the earth and its people

Travel Uniquely with Africa Calling Safaris

Embark on an eco-friendly travel journey to some of the world’s hidden gems—remote destinations rich in raw traditions yet little known to the world. At Africa Calling Safaris, we not only guide you to these off-the-beaten-path destinations but also actively participate in their preservation through sustainable tourism practices.

Our Philosophy

We believe that responsible tourism can profoundly impact lives and add value to the environment. There’s nothing more soul-fulfilling than visiting vulnerable regions and supporting their community-based conservation and sustainability efforts. Your journey transforms from an ordinary trip into a quest—a calling that means more.

At Africa Calling Safaris, we promote eco-conscious travel by minimizing our clients’ footprints while ensuring that both the local community and environment benefit.

01

Our Eco-Friendly Accommodation Partners

Africa Calling Safaris partners with eco-lodges, hotels, and camps strategically located for optimal wildlife viewing, scenic vistas, and luxury beach access. These accommodations are built using environmentally friendly materials, practice eco-tourism, and embrace sustainability efforts such as energy conservation and solar power, reducing carbon footprints on our fragile ecosystem.

Most of these properties employ locals, enhancing employment opportunities for nearby communities. They source fresh produce from local markets, preparing a range of traditional meals. Guests may even request African specialties to enrich their dining experience.

02

Conservation Efforts

Activity fees in certain conservancies, animal shelters, and parks directly support the protection of fragile environments that may be home to endangered species. Notable attractions include Sheldrick’s Elephant Sanctuary, Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, and the Giraffe Centre.

We actively participate in waste management events organized by communities, environmental organizations, and individual conservationists, aiming to make a lasting impact. Before every safari or outdoor excursion, we emphasize litter-free practices in our briefings.

Additionally, we educate students in local schools, raising awareness on litter management. By instilling these values in children at an early age, we empower future generations with the responsibility to care for their environment.

03

Reducing Plastic Pollution

Plastic pollution poses a severe threat to aquatic life, wildlife, and future generations. As part of our sustainable safari campaign, we provide our guests with free reusable water bottles designed to hold various beverages, reducing single-use plastic waste.

Our Land Cruisers are fitted with dispensable water tanks, ensuring a steady supply of clean drinking water throughout the safari.

04

Community Impact

By traveling with us, you contribute to the well-being of rangers, local guides, and porters, who play a vital role in your journey. The local tour guides, drivers, and porters we employ are deeply familiar with the environment, enhancing your experience with expert knowledge.

Beyond this, we work directly with various charitable organizations, supporting educational programs for children from humble backgrounds, donating school materials, drilling wells in water-scarce areas, and organizing medical camps in the remote regions of Northern Kenya.

05

Promoting Ethical Safari Souvenirs

We ensure our guests purchase souvenirs that do not contain wildlife products such as tusks or horns, as these items may have been sourced from poached animals. The trade in wildlife products is strictly banned in Kenya, and possessing them can lead to severe legal consequences.
