Africa Calling Safaris was founded in 2004 by Nikos Pocock. After travelling in the field as a professional tour guide for over 10 years, Nikos decided to use his experience to offer a more personalized and innovative service to travelers visiting the region.
Africa Calling Safaris Ltd is an independent company based in Nairobi and licensed by the Kenyan Ministry of Tourism. To date, Africa Calling Safaris Ltd has organized travel plans for groups and individuals (mainly from Europe, Northern America and Australia), for television crews (BBC and National Geographic), for magazines and photo-exhibitions (among them the National Geographic team) and for residents and non-residents eager to do an excursion and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Africa Calling’s staff is experienced and trained to deal with all types of expeditions. We offer camping and walking safaris, Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro climbing, budget or classic up market safaris, off the beaten track expeditions in remote regions and beach stays in Kenya and Tanzania. In Ethiopia we cover cultural/historical trips in the North, anthropological trips to the Omo-valley, South-Ethiopia (and Kenya’s Lake Turkana) and trekkings in the Simien, Bale and Danakil regions. Gorilla-trekkings and volcano climbing in Uganda are our newest programs
